The One We Fell in Love With

I’ve finished my first book of 2017! Well, I started it last year but uni got so busy, and then with coming home for Christmas and revising for exams I didn’t get much chance to read anything. But I wanted to finish it before heading back to uni this weekend, so I did.

Rose, Eliza and Phoebe are triplets and have grown apart as they’ve grown up… Because of a boy. Angus moved in next door to Rose, Eliza and Phoebe when they were all 17 and Phoebe was the first to meet him… so the first to get to date him. But her sisters, especially Eliza were jealous, causing a huge rift to open up between the sisters. And then suddenly everything changes and Rose and Eliza have to amend their differences to move on.

This is the first book I’ve read by Paige Toon. I bought it back in the summer on Amazon’s 3 for £10 deal as it sounded like a book I may be interested in. One of the reasons I didn’t make much progress with reading was because it jumped around. I really hate books that jump around. It jumped around between characters, but this is easy enough as each chapter has the name of the character whose POV we are reading… but near the beginning it was jumping around in time without warning which I didn’t like very much and found incredibly confusing. But then the jumping around stopped and left us in the present day a little way in to the book, making it much easier to read!

The storyline was pretty good once it all settled down and I did enjoy it. I won’t say it is one of the best books that I’ve ever read, but it certainly isn’t one of the worst! The characters were mostly lovable and it was very strange seeing those surrounding the (identical) triplets coming to terms with the big change (I won’t say what it is for spoiling it). I really really did not expect the major thing to happen, a huge shock!

But all in all, “The One We Fell in Love With” was a good book, which has introduced me to a new author to try out.

To Be Read…

Last month I had nearly read all the books on my bookcase so I was desperate to find some more, so it was time to take a trip to Amazon and have a good old browse!

So next up for me to read:

  • The Winter Wedding – Abby Clements.
  • Waves – Sharon Dogar
  • A Place to Call Home – Carole Matthews
  • The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime  – Mark Haddon
  • Me Before You – Joio Moyes
  • All the Bright Places – Jennifer Niven
  • The Sky is Everywhere – Jandy Nelson
  • The One we Fell in Love With – Paige Toon
  • See Me – Nicholas Sparks
  • Everything, Everything – Nicola Yoon
  • Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
  • Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell
  • Dragonskin Slippers – Jessica Day George

So it is safe to say that my bookshelf is replenished!

Have you read any of these books? What did you make of them? I’d love to know 🙂
