Blogmas Day 23: Favourite Books of 2017

Next week I’m going to share with you all the books that I read in 2017, but today I thought that I’d share with you some of my favourite ones that I’ve read through 2017 πŸ™‚

The Girl Online Series

I was actually pleasantly surprised by this series. If I’m honest I didn’t really expect that much from it, but I actually really enjoyed all three books πŸ™‚ And I’d had to resist the urge to re-read them already this year. (Girl Online, Girl Online: On Tour, Girl Online: Going Solo).

One Wish in Manhattan

This was one of Amazon’s Prime books and it sounded pretty good so I gave it a try. I’d never heard of the author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect but I really enjoyed it.

The Secret Lives of the Amir Sisters

I’d heard a lot of conflicting reviews about this book so I’d held off buying it, but when my friend offered to lend it to me I gave it a go and again I loved it!

I Heart Forever

I love Lindsey Kelk’s books and the “I Heart” series will always hold a special place for me because they are some of the first books I read when I was trying to get back in to reading at 18 years old. I was so excited for this book to come out and it did not disappoint!

The Chocolate Lovers’ Series

I’d heard a lot about these books and when I found a copy of the first one for Β£2 in WH Smith I couldn’t resist… and then wormed my way through all 4 books in the series. (The Chocolate Lovers’ Club, The Chocolate Lovers’ Diet, The Chocolate Lovers’ Christmas, The Chocolate Lovers’ Wedding)

Christmas Cakes and Mistletoe NightsΒ

Another book by Carole Matthews, and this time a Christmassy one. I loved it! It was such a lovely book that made me want to make lots of Christmas cakes and biscuits!

Some Kind of Wonderful

I haven’t reviewed this yet on here because of Blogmas, but expect the review soon πŸ™‚ I LOVE Giovanna Fletcher’s books and this one was brilliant πŸ™‚

What books have you loved most in 2017?

October Favourites 2017

We’re now in to November! Where on earth has this year gone?! November means it’s nearly my birthday! :O And it means that after 17th (my birthday) I can start thinking about Christmas!

So what have I been enjoying this month?

First up is my Animal Hillside Jacket. I bought this coat back in September as I wanted a waterproof coat that looked a bit nicer than my proper “outdoor” waterproof coat. This coat has been fantastic and actually does a great job of keeping the wind out, as well as being really breathable. So where it hasn’t been so cold but I still need a coat, this coat has been brilliant.

One of the things I really missed about being away at uni was being able to bake. So now I’m back it’s been great to be able to bake and make cakes again, as well as flick through my recipe books deciding what to make next. I’ve really been loving my Hummingbird Bakery books this month too, and while I’ve had the Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook for a long time, I’ve really loved my new purchase of “Home Sweet Home” and “Cake Days”.

On the topic of baking, I’ve really enjoyed The Great British Bake Off. I was unsure about how the move to Channel 4 would affect it, but actually it’s still the Bake Off which we all know and love! Everyone is telling me I should apply for the next series XD

I’ve always fancied a reed diffuser but I’ve read a lot of comments about them not actually filling a room. But we bought this Yankee Candle Black Cherry Reed Diffuser for the bathroom and actually I love it! I’m very tempted to get one for my room now! πŸ™‚Β Photo 31-10-2017, 13 37 37

The great thing about autumn and October/November is the autumn leaves and the lovely red/orange colours that go with them. I love autumn leaves as to me it shows me that it’s nearly my birthday and they make great photos!

I usually don’t start thinking about Christmas until after my birthday, but during October I’ve read 2 Christmas chick lit booksThe Chocolate Lovers’ Christmas and Christmas Cakes and Mistletoe Nights. I love Christmas chick lit books and they really help me get in the mood for Christmas! πŸ˜€

S’mores!Β S’mores aren’t really a thing here in the UK, so I’ve never tried them before. But a couple of weeks ago I decided that I’d give them a go πŸ™‚ So I bought some digestive biscuits, marshmallows and chocolate and zapped it in the microwave to make a really yummy treat! These s’mores were so easy to make and really good!

Cath Kidston x Peter Pan jumper.Β I absolutely adore my Peter Pan jumper, it is really comfy and lovely to wear! Plus the pattern is pretty cute!

Photo 27-10-2017, 11 05 44

Finally, I love the Cosy Nights that come with winter and the clocks changing. Nothing beats snuggling with a blanket and fairy lights/LED candles while reading a book/watching a film. I know loads of people hate the change to winter but I love it! πŸ™‚

So there’s my favourites for the month! πŸ˜€ What have you been enjoying in October? Let me know in the comments πŸ™‚

Disney x Cath Kidston #1 – Winnie the Pooh

I don’t know if it’s a little weird to write about this Disney x Cath Kidston collaboration as it is over a year ago that it came out now, but at the same time I wanted to share some of my favourite bits from the collaborations because it’s just too pretty not to share.

So just over a year ago now, Cath Kidston released, what was their first of many, Disney collaborations and this first one was Winnie the Pooh. I think this has to be my favourite of the Disney x Cath Kidston collaborations so far where I love the balloon spot print the most!

The Winnie the Pooh print is definitely far more limited edition than those of the newer prints such as the recent Peter Pan one, meaning the stuff I have here I could probably sell for a small fortune on eBay if I wanted – like the mug I have sells for well over Β£50 on eBay when I paid Β£8! Anyway, enough of that and I’ll show you! (Although I apologise as you’ve probably seen some of these before)!

Photo 24-10-2017, 13 32 09

I know I have a lot of it but it hasn’t all been bought in one go! I saved up my last ever pay check from my job before I went to uni to buy some of it. And then my mum bought me a couple as presents, as well as getting some later on when Cath Kidston randomly seemed to restock some of it on their website.

Photo 24-10-2017, 13 33 54

So first we have oven gloves, a set of two tea towels and the infamous mug. I was so upset because I accidentally chipped my mug the tiniest bit! I don’t think I’d ever want to sell it though because it looks too pretty! Now I don’t use it and it sits on my shelf as a collectors item! The oven gloves I am yet to use as I wanted to save them for next time I move out/have my own place, but these were an additional purchase as mum and dad flew out to Dubai just after the collection came out and it was still all in stock at the airport store. The tea towels were well used last year at uni!

Photo 24-10-2017, 13 35 08

Next we have the dress, two pairs of pyjamas and a jumper (which I use as a pyjama jumper). The only bits here that are “original” purchases are the long pyjamas (in the middle) and the jumper (which mum and dad got me from the airport). While the dress and other pyjamas were bought when Cath Kidston randomly restocked some stuff back on the website at sale prices. I haven’t worn the dress yet but I’m thinking about using it as my dress for when I graduate my Masters, but the pyjamas and the jumper are all so comfy!

Photo 24-10-2017, 13 36 01

I adore the Winnie the Pooh cushion and it is so comfy and a good size and I mean it is a cute print! The washbag and zip purse were again bought when they were restocked a few months later at sale price.

Finally, the bags! You’ve all seen two of these before (I think). I’ve shown you the overnight bag and the bag I used a few times for uni. Both the overnight bag and the other bag were original purchases where one came from the airport. But the third bag (the one on the right in the above photo) is again one of the bags that I could sell for a small fortune on eBay.

The little reversible, fold-over messenger bag was bought for me by my mum off eBay. I don’t think she paid too much for it, but she knew I was eyeing one up and regretted not buying it to start with. I was going through a really bad time back in February and mum felt sorry for me and surprised me with it. I honestly love it and now use it as my handbag for special occasions!

So, there we have it, my Cath Kidston x Winnie the Pooh items. Which one of these is your favourite? Would you like to see more of the Disney x Cath Kidston collaborations? If so let me know and I’ll think about doing some more πŸ™‚

September Favourites 2017

How is it October already? :O Although September has gone pretty quick for me I know the next few weeks/months are going to drag on for me until I find a job 😦 I’m rubbish at doing nothing!

September was busy for me, with finishing off my dissertation, moving back home, unpacking back at home, buying my first car, and giving my final university presentation. I wasn’t sure whether I’d be able to do a September Favourites as I can’t think of much to put in but then I had a few ideas πŸ™‚

First thing I’ve been loving is being back home. OK I’m bored a lot of the time and time really really really drags on some days, but I’m loving being reunited with my bookcase and the cushions on my bed πŸ˜€

Photo 27-09-2017, 08 55 47

Photo 27-09-2017, 08 54 53

Secondly I’ve been loving long pyjamas! Yes now that I’m out of my sauna of a room at uni I have been reunited with the enjoyment of snuggling up in long, soft, cozy pyjamas in bed at night πŸ™‚

Thirdly, is my car. I can’t really afford to go too far at the moment but it feels great having a car and knowing I can take myself out/go to the shops/visit people without relying on other people. It is also exactly what I was looking and waiting for πŸ™‚ Plus I was so lucky that the garage knows us (we’ve had a few cars from them now) and they’ve really made sure it is in full working order for me.

Photo 24-09-2017, 12 19 42

My next favourite this month has been the Cath Kidston x Peter Pan collection πŸ™‚ You should go and look at it if you haven’t seen it πŸ™‚ It is all so wonderful and pretty πŸ™‚

Photo 26-09-2017, 19 54 57

Finally, this is going to be quite weird, but my final favourite this month is my achievements in the last year. I’m feeling so flipping proud of myself for obtaining one of the two awards for my degree. I can’t believe I got the highest mark! And finally, I’m so proud of my dissertation. πŸ™‚

Photo 13-09-2017, 13 24 25

So they were some random favourites this month πŸ˜€ What have you been enjoying this month? πŸ™‚

August Favourites 2017

I didn’t get round to doing a favourites post last month as I was so busy with my dissertation and other bits that I didn’t have a chance! But I’ve managed to pull together a few of my favourites from August for you πŸ™‚

First up is this Fat Face T-shirt! I adore it! I’m so glad my mum bought it for me as a present. I was going to wait for it to go in to the sale, but when the sale came it had sold out. Β Thankfully mum had bought me one already and I love it!

Photo 06-08-2017, 18 57 31

Secondly is this Venus Swirl Razor and razor holder. I bought it from Superdrug a few weeks ago when it was one of the weekly star buys. I love the Venus swirl blades, they glide so smoothly and smell wonderful! Annoyingly the razor didn’t come with a razor holder and it didn’t fit in the holder I had already, so I bought this OXO good grips one. It was a bit bigger than I expected but it hasn’t fallen off yet and it’s now been up 4 weeks!Β Photo 26-08-2017, 18 11 54

I finally finished a huge bottle of Body Shop strawberry shower gel so I was so excited to buy a new shower gel after so long! Tesco had these Original Source shower gels on offer and the mango one sounded great! It smells so much like mango and I really like it. Apart from it is a little thin and runny but the smell makes up for it πŸ˜‰Photo 26-08-2017, 18 12 04

CHERUB books! I’ve been re-reading the CHERUB books this month and I’d forgotten how great they are! πŸ™‚ I’ve loved picking them all up again.

My new diary. I spent ages looking for a new diary that had the layout and size I wanted. You’d be surprised at how many week to view diaries don’t have lines in! But I really like this one I bought. I didn’t want it to look too much like an academic planner as I finish uni in 4 weeks. But I settled on this one from WH Smith πŸ™‚

Photo 08-08-2017, 19 42 02

Finally I’ve really been enjoying the TV Series “Nadiya’s British Food Adventure”. Nadiya won the Great British Bake Off a couple of years ago and I think she is brilliant! She’s smart and funny and just so amazing! So I’ve really enjoyed watching it and eyeing up new recipes! πŸ™‚

What have you been enjoying in August? πŸ™‚

June Favourites 2017

Can you believe it’s that time again! Another month has gone and we’re now in July!

I don’t have that much to show you in my favourites this month! I’ve been busy with exams and my research project and I’ve struggled to pick some of my favourites for this month, but here are some of them πŸ™‚

Photo 28-06-2017, 18 45 27 (1)

Let Your Dreams Set Sail Boat – I got this in Jersey while I was on holiday there last year. I love it and it kept me motivated during exams! The exam period was so long for me this year!

Apple and Mango Squash – I picked this up thinking it sounded amazing, and it tastes amazing too! BUT I didn’t realise it isn’t no added sugar. So I have to limit myself to how much I have!

Zoella Hungry Hands Hand Cream – Now I’m back in the lab I’m washing my hands so much! Labs are worrying places with chemicals/germs everywhere. So to keep my hands from drying out I’ve come back to this lovely hand cream.

Superdry Backpack – My old Superdry rucksack is now 4 years old and has served me so well. But it’s falling apart a bit and is looking quite grubby now, so I was looking for a new one. Remember when I was in Cardiff back in May? Well I saw this bag then and loved it but decided not to get it at the time because I’d have to carry it around with me all day. I thought Swansea’s Superdry store would have it! They didn’t 😦 So I went all the way back to Cardiff in the hope they may have it and thankfully they did! πŸ˜€ I love it πŸ˜€

What else have I been loving this month?

Love Island! –Β I mean it’s trash but addictive trash! Think Big Brother but on the beach!

DIY SOS – This show is amazing! I mean if it doesn’t restore your faith in humanity I don’t know what will!

Eat Well For Less – I love this show! It is a good way to learn tips on how to save money on your food shop, as well as picking up good recipes πŸ™‚

The Voice Kids –Β If you want to see incredibly talented kids then you should really check this show out! It’s The Voice but with kids and some of the kids are amazing!!!!

Well that’s all for today! Sorry it’s a bit of a rubbish favourites this month! 😦

What have you been enjoying through June?
