Day in My Life

I’ve already shared 2 posts of a day in my life for work but I do various types of day at work so today I thought I’d share with you what happens on a double shift day at work!

So my working hours can either be, 7am-10:30am, 4pm – 10:30pm or 4pm – 7:30am. In this post I’ll tell you about a day in my life at work when I’m working both the 7-10 and 4-10:30.

So the night before this shift I was staying in a hotel as I was also working the night before, meaning I had to get up around 6am. (N.B. none of these photos were taken on shift).

06:00 – Wake up/get up and get ready for work. Thankfully for a morning shift I get breakfast at work so I don’t need to worry about anything apart from literally rolling out of bed.

06:50 – Arrive at work. As you can see, the weather this morning was really cold to start with!

Photo 19-05-2018, 06 51 50

7:45 am – Start morning tour and head to breakfast.

8:30 am – Head off from breakfast and visit some of the animals and feed them breakfast. You have to watch out for those pesky lemurs! They mob you in the morning! In fact this weekend one did come and jump on me and sit on my shoulder! I really wish there was photographic evidence of it!

10:30 am – Finish shift and head back to the hotel.

11:00am to 3:00pm – Between shifts I washed my hair, had a nap and watched some Teen Mom 3 on my iPad. πŸ˜€

3:15pm – Head back off to work ready for the PM shift. It was a bit warmer this afternoon!

4:00pm – Start the evening shift.

6:00pm – Start evening tour and visit some of our animals πŸ™‚

10:30pm – Finish at work for the evening and head back to the hotel.

11:00pm – Head to bed!

So there you have it. A day in my life when I work 2 shifts in a day. I hope you enjoyed finding out a bit more what I get up to at work! πŸ™‚

If We Were Having Coffee #4 (June, 2018)

Hello again! How are you all? I hope everyone is well πŸ™‚ It is time for another monthly catch up.

If we were having coffee today I’d definitely be having a cool drink. In fact I’ll probably have either a Strawberry creamy cooler or a mint choc chip one πŸ™‚ What would you be having to drink?

If we were having coffee… I’d again tell you how much I LOVE my job. Everyone I work with are brilliant and I love my work colleagues, and get on really well with them. I love being able to share with people my passion for conservation and animals as well as getting to visit some of my favourite animals several times a week.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how I’ve kind of managed to pick up another job at the zoo. It is kind of a zero hours contract but I should be able to get some work on it during the summer holidays.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how I’m missing Roxy the dog. We were looking after her again last weekend and she is so fun. She went absolutely hyper when I got home from work the other night and I miss her. She is lovely to cuddle and she loved sleeping on my bed with me.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how I’m reminiscing a lot at the moment about my time in South Africa. I really hope to go back one day, especially on safari! I’m hoping soon to get a collage canvas made from my time out there, as well as sorting my scrapbook.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how much I love my new duvet cover. It is so pretty and it just feels so nice. I’m so thankful that my mum decided to buy it for me.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that all this Cath Kidston Alice in Wonderland stuff has actually made me realise that I’ve never watched the original Disney Alice in Wonderland (I’ve seen the one with Johnny Depp) nor have I actually read it. It’s definitely going on the to read list!

If we were having coffee… I’d ask you if you have any news that you want to share? πŸ™‚

May Favourites 2018

I can’t quite believe it is time to write a favourites post again! It only seems like the other day I was writing my April favourites post! Again, I don’t have too many things to put in this month’s favourites but here we go πŸ™‚

First thing I’ve been loving this month is the song “This is Me” from “The Greatest Showman”. I’ve not actually seen the film yet (I’m waiting for it to be cheaper to rent online) but I do plan to, but recently they’ve been playing this loads on the radio and I’ve come to love it πŸ™‚

Second thing I’ve been loving this month is Teen Mom UK. I remember when I finished my A Levels I spent loads of time watching 16 and pregnant. Anyway, I was searching Sky for something new to watch and I found Teen Mom UK. I then watched all 3 seasons in a couple of days.

My next favourite this month is Sims 3! Yes I know Sims 4 is out but I don’t like it (don’t tell my brother that, he works for EA). I hadn’t played Sims in so long but I randomly decided to play it again the other day and now I can’t stop playing!

I’ve also bought a new water bottle this month. I love my Camelbak Eddy water bottle and was absolutely gutted when it started leaking the other week. So I ended up buying a new one (well, first I tried replacing some of the parts to it and that failed so I worked out it must be the bottle broken). It has been so hot at work recently and I’ve really appreciated having my water bottle.

My next favourite is something that I had been using before but for some reason I stopped using it for a while. I had some really dry patches of skin on my legs (because of the hot weather) so decided I’d try my Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter again. Actually, I can’t believe I stopped using it! It smells lovely and is really moisturising.

Last but not least, this month I’ve been loving the Cath Kidston Alice in Wonderland collection. OK, well that’s a bit of a lie because I’m not loving *all* of it, but there are a few items that I love. This time round I only bought a couple of bits as it is all getting quite samey, I didn’t really *need* anything else and I didn’t like too many of the things.

One of the things I did love was the bedding. Now, I have a single bed at home and it was Β£65 for the single bedding and I wasn’t going to buy it. Then we went to the shop in Guildford and they said they’d sold out of it all (the double had sold out online), but there was still some single bedding left online. Anyway, as I said I wasn’t going to buy it as Β£65 is a lot of money, but then my mum surprised me and ordered it for me. But I absolutely love it! πŸ™‚

So there we have my May favourites πŸ™‚ What have you been enjoying this month? πŸ™‚

500 Followers + Q & A

Photo 06-05-2018, 18 20 02

So this just happened?! :O I’m not quite sure how but I’ve reached 500 followers on my blog!

When I started this blog 3 years ago I didn’t really know what it would be. I was basically just writing book reviews. Last year however I decided to branch out. I didn’t just want to share book reviews all the time. Don’t get me wrong, I still adore reading and still do share books with you but I now write about more. Let’s just say my blog is a bit of a random combination of things, but people seem to like it!

Since posting more often I noticed my follower count start to climb but I wasn’t doing it for followers. I write my blog for me and it is something I’m proud of. I had no idea that what I was writing about may actually be of interest to people but it obviously is so all I can say is thank you! πŸ™‚

Thank you to those who have been with me from the beginning! I’m looking at you An Historian About TownΒ and thank you to everyone else who has joined me along the way!

Please do let me know if there is anything you’d like to see more of on my blog in the comments below, but also I’m going to attempt a small Q&A. So does anyone have any questions about anything? Uni, Books, Work, Baking, Blogs, Me… or just anything? Please do ask away below and if I get enough response I’ll write another post with the answers πŸ™‚

Thank you all again for your support πŸ™‚

What’s in my Bag – Vlog

So this is my first ever Vlog! I hope you enjoy it.

Today I’m sharing with you what is in my bag for my latest trip away πŸ™‚ I can also confirm that I’ve got some footage for a bit of a vlog but not much yet! πŸ™‚

I hope you enjoyed this vlog, let me know what you think of it πŸ™‚

If We Were Having Coffee #1 (March, 2018)

So I’ve seen a lot of people doing posts like this so I decided it was time for me to give it a go. I’ve been wanting to do one for a while but haven’t got round to it.

Firstly, I wouldn’t be having coffee… I don’t like coffee 😦 But as it is cold today I’ll have a hot chocolate, it is actually snowing outside as I write this! πŸ™‚

Photo 21-11-2017, 11 59 13

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how fed up I’m feeling at the moment. This job hunting can be pretty soul destroying, especially when you get to interview and then get turned down.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how I’m fed up of this cold weather! Yes I know people have it much colder than we do here but it is so cold at the moment! It has been -6Β°C here today all day.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how I want my cold to go. I have terrible pain in my ear at the moment where I’m full of cold.

If we were having coffee…Β I’d tell you how I’m looking forward to trying my hand at vlogging. I mean it might just be a phase I’m going through but I’m looking forward to giving it a go and seeing if it can help my blog grow a bit.

If we were having coffee…Β I’d tell you how the more I think about my situation at the moment the more appealing heading off travelling is. I mean I don’t have money at the moment but I’ve been looking at the possibility of doing an Au Pair placement in New Zealand for a while now, and the more I think about it the more it seems a good idea. I’m young with nothing to lose really at the moment, plus I’d love to see some more of the world while I still can, so maybe it isn’t such a bad idea.

If we were having coffee…Β I’d tell you how I’m starting to get more and more desperate to find a job. I have very little money at the moment and not being able to do anything or go anywhere or buy anything is starting to get to me.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how although I’m fed up of the cold and snow, I wish it would snow just a bit more so there is enough snow for me to make a snowman!

If we were having coffee…Β I’d ask you how you are and if there’s anything you want to tell me or ask me? πŸ™‚

I think that’s about it for now! I hope you enjoyed this post!

How are things going for you at the moment? Have you got any news you’d like to share?

2018 Blog Plans

Happy 2018 everyone! I’m sorry I’ve not posted yet this year, it’s not been through a lack of ideas, but I’ve been a bit busy getting sorted and ready for my graduation tomorrow and going on holiday next week πŸ™‚ As well as looking after this cute little Yorkiepoo! (My brother’s friend’s dog).

Anyway, I thought I’d quickly share with you my 2018 blog plans. I’m going to keep posting regularly with other things than just book reviews, but I may go down to posting twice a week rather than 3 (but I’ll see where inspiration takes me πŸ˜‰ ).

I can’t promise too much through January because I’m going on holiday next week and I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to write before going away, but I’ll be sure to write about my trip when I’m home! πŸ™‚

I hope everyone is well and 2018 is treating you well so far! πŸ™‚ See you all again soon πŸ™‚
