Empties #1

So here is my first ever empties post! I’ve fancied doing an empties post for so long, but the problem is it takes me forever to go through things so I have to hoard for ages! I’m not quite sure how long its taken me to collect all of this, but I finally have some empties for you! 🙂

I love empties posts, mainly to get recommendations of things, but also I think I’m just a bit nosey… Like those what’s in my bag posts. Anyway, here are the empties I’ve accumulated to share 🙂

Water Wipes – I bought these last month just after I’d had the cyst removed from my face. I couldn’t wash my face properly for 10 days so I used these. OK the environmental side of me doesn’t like that these aren’t biodegradable but they’ve actually been really nice to use. They don’t feel anything like other wipes and they are actually really hydrating because they’re 99% water and 1% grapefruit oil or something. Would I buy again? Yes, probably 🙂

Colgate Sensitive Pro Relief – I’ve been using this toothpaste for around 4 years now I think. So, safe to say I think it’s pretty good. Only thing is is can be quite expensive unless you grab it on offer (or at Costco!). Would I buy again? Already have!

Body Shop Strawberry Shower Gel – I quite like these shower gels. I only buy them on offer though! They’re really nice to use and smell so nice! Only thing is they’re quite expensive (unless on offer). Would I buy again? Probably… Once I’ve used up all the other shower gels I have! 🙂

Superdrug Lens Wipes – Dirty glasses are annoying, especially when you’re out and about. I actually bought these to keep in my car but I also keep a couple in my work bag and in my handbag. If you wear glasses you’ll appreciate what I mean about nothing beats clean glasses! They are pretty good and do the trick. Would I buy again? Yes, already have 🙂

Carex Hand Soap (original) – OK, I know there are cheaper soaps out there but I love the smell of this. Plus we always buy it at Costco so it’s a good deal. Would I buy again? Yes, we already have 🙂

Vaseline Aloe Vera Moisturiser – I LOVE this moisturiser. It smells nice and isn’t too greasy and it always sinks in quickly. I’ve been using this for a while now and it works well. Again, it can be expensive but Superdrug have it on offer 90% of the time. Would I buy again? Yes, already have! 🙂

Sure Roll On Bright Bouquet – I go through phases with deodorant, sometimes I like roll on, other times I like spray. I tend to use roll on when I travel though. I love the smell of this (strawberry and apricot) and it does the job pretty well. Would I buy again? Yes, probably when I run out of my latest deodorant 🙂

Carex Moisture Plus Hand Gel – Well, this needs no explanation really! Would I buy again? Yes, already have! 🙂

Blistex Intensive Moisturiser – This is honestly the BEST lip balm ever. It basically sorts lips out overnight if they’re sore or anything. Would I buy again? YES!!! 🙂

So that’s all for my first empties post. I hope you all enjoyed it 🙂

See you again soon 🙂

Recent Beauty Buys

I’m not really one for buying “beauty” products. I don’t buy cleansers/toners/make up etc. very often at all, and when I do buy beauty products it is generally limited to shampoo/shower gel/lip balm!

I recently seem to have run out of several things at the same time so today I decided I’d share with you some of my recent purchases.

Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula – I’ve not used this yet, but next week I am having a minor operation to remove a cyst from my face. I was researching things that can help with scar healing and visibility and this moisturiser was one of the things that came up, so I’ve decided to give it a go 🙂

Batiste Rose Gold – Again, as I won’t be able to wash my hair for a few days after my operation I think dry shampoo will be one of my friends in that time!

Imperial Leather Marshmallow Foamburst – I LOVE this shower gel. It was on Superdrug’s star buys this week at £1.45 a can (rather than £3). As it is limited edition I decided I’d buy a couple of cans to stock up as I love it so much 🙂

Nivea Invisible Deodorant – I’ve been using the same Sure deodorant for years, so I decided I’d try a new one when it ran out. I love the smell of this Nivea deodorant and so far it’s been great 🙂

Zerreau Shampoo – I’ve really fancied trying this for quite some time but never really found a need to. With my upcoming operation and not being able to wash my hair I decided now was as good a time as any to give this a try. It’s supposedly like a dry shampoo in a mousse that you kind of towel dry out of your hair. I’ll probably let you know how I get on with it in another post 🙂

Blistex Intensive Cherry – I usually go for the original of these Blistex lip balms, but they didn’t have my usual so I thought I’d try the cherry one this time. These lip balms are absolutely brilliant for very sore/chapped lips.

Mickey Mouse Compact Tangle Teezer – OK, so this was kind of an impulse buy when Tangle Teezer released their Mickey Mouse range. But it’s actually been useful to keep in my work bag 🙂

I hope you all enjoyed this post, I’m sorry it’s a day late! 🙂 See you all again soon 🙂

Superdrug Haul

Writing this I’m thinking, how many things do I need to buy for it to be considered a haul? But I thought I’d show you my latest Superdrug purchases.

I’ve become more of a Superdrug convert recently, partly because I get student discount (if I shop in store), but also because I’m a beauty club member I can get free delivery (on no minimum spend) so its great. Plus they often have pretty good deals on things.

So what did I buy?

Halo Eye Make-up Remover Pads – I’ve worn make up (well mascara) a few times in the past few weeks and I had no make up remover, so my eyelashes were really gross until I finally managed to wipe it all off. I’d heard good things about these, plus they were in Superdrug’s 3 for £3 on travel minis, so thought I’d give them a try.

Listerine Total Care Mini – I like to have a couple of these stocked up for trips away and as I was buying the above make-up pads in the 3 for £3 I decided to get this at the same time.

Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Spray Moisturiser – I love the normal version of this moisturiser, and I’ve had my eye on this for a while. As I was doing the order and it was less than half price I decided to pick it up.

Rimmel Extra Super Lash Rita Ora Black 101 – I had to chuck away my old black mascara the other day as it had dried out, so picked this up to try.

Carmex Cherry – I love the original Carmex and since my lip balm was running out I decided to pick up this cherry one to try.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water – I picked this up as it was only £1 so thought I’d give it a try.

Simple Kind to Eyes Eye Make Up Remover – This was also in the 3 for £3 offer, and thought I’d give it a try rather than paying out for a full size one to find its rubbish.

Versace Bright Crystal – This was a free sample as I bought the Micellar Cleansing Water and the Vaseline moisturiser, so I’ll have to see what it’s like.

So that’s all I bought this time 🙂 See you again soon 🙂

Tangle Teezers

The first I knew of Tangle Teezers was a couple of years ago when one of the kids on the kids camp I was working at had one. But to me it just looked awkward, cheap and painful and I wondered why anyone would ever want to use one! Two years later I’m converted!

My Tangle Teezer Collection

Last year my hairbrush needed replacing and although I thought they were incredibly expensive for a hairbrush, I bought a Tangle Teezer Salon Elite off Amazon to give it a try. I’m not quite sure why I chose the Salon Elite over the original, I think I just read that they were supposed to be better and easier to hold.

Tangle Teezer Salon Elite

At first I was unsure, I wasn’t used to having to partition by hair before brushing it, and it sounded like it was ripping my hair out! But I soon got used to it and quickly fell in love! Plus I was amazed at how easily the brush could get tangles and knots out of my long, thick hair.

Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash

A couple of months later I decided to buy the Aqua Splash model. Now I know you can use the normal Tangle Teezer in the bath/shower, but I thought I’d give the shower model a try. OK, it does pretty much the same as the normal Tangle Teezer, except this one is easier to grip with wet hands, plus it makes my hair feel so lovely and soft as soon as I use it to brush conditioner through.

My collection does not stop there 😀 I’d been thinking about buying a travel (compact) Tangle Teezer for a while (ever since I went to Norway and my hair got so tangled and I forgot my Tangle Teezer), but I always thought they were really expensive so why bother buying one when I could just buy another one of the normal brushes for cheaper. But just before Christmas Boots had a buy 1 get 1 half price offer on Tangle Teezers so I decided to make use of it.

I haven’t used my little compact Tangle Teezer much as I’ve not really been away anywhere, but on the times that I have used it it does as good a job as the full sized Tangle Teezer and I’m very glad I bought it.

Tangle Teezer Ultimate Finishing Brush

Finally, the last Tangle Teezer in my collection is the Ultimate Finishing Brush. I found this when I was shopping the buy 1 get 1 half price offer in Boots, and it is pretty new so there weren’t many reviews, but I decided to give it a go! I’m not a big fan of the colour, but pink was the only colour that Boots had (Amazon do a black version), but I mean it’s only a hairbrush right?! At first I was concerned about the short looking handle, but this Tangle Teezer is amazing! It has longer bristles and is so comfortable to hold and brushes through my hair so well! I still use the Salon Elite for detangling, but I use this brush to brush my hair through afterwards rather than my normal hairbrush.

Do you use a Tangle Teezer? What do you think of them?

Zoella Pamper Hamper

I thought I’d do a post that was a bit different today to make up for finishing blogmas!

The first time I heard of Zoella was a couple of years ago when she was on the Great British Bake Off Comic/Sport Relief special. I wouldn’t say I’ve heard of her much but in the last 6 months I’ve heard of her more often and thought I’d try something of hers.

I know her products and target audience in general is teenagers, so I was a bit unsure whether I should really be trying her products, but when I heard her Christmas range was based on a gingerbread scent I thought I’d give it a go.

The Zoella Pamper Hamper was perhaps one of the most wished-for items in her Christmas range, but I’m afraid I would never have paid full price (£50) for this! It was only a couple of days ago when I was in Superdrug I saw it was £16.99 in their sale, and thought I wouldn’t mind spending that money on it, but no way would I spend £50! Sadly it is sold out online but several stores still seem to have a reasonable amount of stock of this.

With the Zoella Pamper Hamper you get this lovely wicker hamper. Mine is a little damaged in places where the white coating has come off so I wouldn’t say it is that well made but it does feel pretty robust and I know what I’ll be using it for (once I’ve tidied my room up).

Inside the pamper hamper you get several things.

  • 90ml Hungry Hands Hand Cream
  • 100ml Shower Glaze (shower gel)
  • 100ml Ginger Cream (body lotion)
  • Bake My Day Cosmetic Purse
  • Shower/Bath Puff
  • Bath Fizzer
  • Gingerbread Bath Salts

So you do get a fair amount in the hamper, I think I was most disappointed that the sizes weren’t bigger. I mean 100ml of shower gel probably won’t last very long! I have very sensitive skin and am quite allergic to almost everything, so I’m going to have to see how I get on with this stuff but I’ll tell you a bit more about some of the things you get in the hamper now.

This little Bake My Day cosmetic purse is quite cute. It isn’t very big so I don’t think you’d get much in there! But it is exclusive to the Pamper Hamper so you can’t get it elsewhere.

Hungry Hands Hand Cream has a mild ginger, but more vanilla scent to it. To be honest this is the product that I most wanted to try out and I’ve used a tiny bit this morning. I thought 90ml wouldn’t be much but you hardly need anything. It makes your hands feel so soft and is not greasy at all! If you just want to try this you can get it for £1.99 in Superdrug at the moment (as opposed to the £6 RRP before Christmas).

Ginger Cream is a little body lotion. I haven’t used it yet but it smells just like the hand cream and I personally think it smells more like vanilla than ginger, but it smells lovely!

The Shower Glaze again smells very similar to the hand cream and the body lotion and I can’t wait to use it.

Bath Fizzer and Gingerbread Bath Salts – I haven’t opened either of these yet. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to use the Bath Fizzer as the website says it contains almond oil, and being allergic to nuts means I can’t use it, but I’m sure my mum can use it! The Bath Fizzer does break in half though so you can get two baths out of it. As for the Gingerbread Bath Salts, I look forward to trying these, there are loads of them in the packet and I don’t quite know how much you should use per bath but we’ll soon find out!

Last but not least is this little shower puff it is quite small and not as big as the one I have from the Body Shop but it looks really cute as it has a bit of pink running through it!

So all in all, you do get a reasonable amount of things for £16.99, but like I said I don’t think I’d pay £50 for it! If you want it I’d head out to your local Superdrug quickly as this is all only limited edition stuff for Christmas and it will soon disappear. I do quite like the scent. Yes it is quite sweet, and I think it smells more like vanilla gingerbread but I don’t think it is sickly sweet and I look forward to trying the rest of the products out.
