Garnier Ultimate Blends Strength Restore

I don’t usually do posts about this kind of thing. Beauty isn’t my thing. I mean I’m not one for hair products, make up etc., but I decided I’d share with you my hair routine today, because the shampoo I use is fantastic!

I used to hate my hair. When I was a teenager it was horribly thick, bushy and frizzy and I hated it. I used to get my hair chemically straightened and I straightened my hair every week because I hated it. But now I’ve got older, thankfully my hair has calmed down and although long and quite thick, it is more wavy than frizzy. Photo 14-06-2017, 19 41 14

I used to use L’Oreal Elvive Nutri Gloss shampoo. But last year I changed shampoo to Garnier Ultimate Blends Strength Restorer and I’m never going back! I used to get a lot of split ends, but now nearly a year since my last hair cut I have nowhere near as many split ends as I used to get. I think that’s mostly down to a change in shampoo, as well as using a tangle teezer.

So first up I wash my hair once every 5 or so days (I’m lucky in that my hair doesn’t get overly greasy quickly), generally 3 times every 2 weeks. 🙂

I first wash my hair with Body Shop ginger anti dandruff shampoo – well not, all of my hair, but just the bit at the front of my parting, followed by Garnier Ultimate Blends Strength Restore Shampoo. You only need a little shampoo but it smells amazing! 🙂

I then smooth the conditioner through the mid to ends of my hair before washing it out. By now you can really feel the smoothness! It makes my hair so soft! It says to use either the conditioner or the hair balm, but I use both 🙂 So after the conditioner I use the strength restorer balm before bushing it through with my tangle teezer.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post! I know it was a bit different to what I usually do 🙂 Do you have a particular shampoo you have come to love?

Superdrug Haul

Writing this I’m thinking, how many things do I need to buy for it to be considered a haul? But I thought I’d show you my latest Superdrug purchases.

I’ve become more of a Superdrug convert recently, partly because I get student discount (if I shop in store), but also because I’m a beauty club member I can get free delivery (on no minimum spend) so its great. Plus they often have pretty good deals on things.

So what did I buy?

Halo Eye Make-up Remover Pads – I’ve worn make up (well mascara) a few times in the past few weeks and I had no make up remover, so my eyelashes were really gross until I finally managed to wipe it all off. I’d heard good things about these, plus they were in Superdrug’s 3 for £3 on travel minis, so thought I’d give them a try.

Listerine Total Care Mini – I like to have a couple of these stocked up for trips away and as I was buying the above make-up pads in the 3 for £3 I decided to get this at the same time.

Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Spray Moisturiser – I love the normal version of this moisturiser, and I’ve had my eye on this for a while. As I was doing the order and it was less than half price I decided to pick it up.

Rimmel Extra Super Lash Rita Ora Black 101 – I had to chuck away my old black mascara the other day as it had dried out, so picked this up to try.

Carmex Cherry – I love the original Carmex and since my lip balm was running out I decided to pick up this cherry one to try.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water – I picked this up as it was only £1 so thought I’d give it a try.

Simple Kind to Eyes Eye Make Up Remover – This was also in the 3 for £3 offer, and thought I’d give it a try rather than paying out for a full size one to find its rubbish.

Versace Bright Crystal – This was a free sample as I bought the Micellar Cleansing Water and the Vaseline moisturiser, so I’ll have to see what it’s like.

So that’s all I bought this time 🙂 See you again soon 🙂

Tangle Teezers

The first I knew of Tangle Teezers was a couple of years ago when one of the kids on the kids camp I was working at had one. But to me it just looked awkward, cheap and painful and I wondered why anyone would ever want to use one! Two years later I’m converted!

My Tangle Teezer Collection

Last year my hairbrush needed replacing and although I thought they were incredibly expensive for a hairbrush, I bought a Tangle Teezer Salon Elite off Amazon to give it a try. I’m not quite sure why I chose the Salon Elite over the original, I think I just read that they were supposed to be better and easier to hold.

Tangle Teezer Salon Elite

At first I was unsure, I wasn’t used to having to partition by hair before brushing it, and it sounded like it was ripping my hair out! But I soon got used to it and quickly fell in love! Plus I was amazed at how easily the brush could get tangles and knots out of my long, thick hair.

Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash

A couple of months later I decided to buy the Aqua Splash model. Now I know you can use the normal Tangle Teezer in the bath/shower, but I thought I’d give the shower model a try. OK, it does pretty much the same as the normal Tangle Teezer, except this one is easier to grip with wet hands, plus it makes my hair feel so lovely and soft as soon as I use it to brush conditioner through.

My collection does not stop there 😀 I’d been thinking about buying a travel (compact) Tangle Teezer for a while (ever since I went to Norway and my hair got so tangled and I forgot my Tangle Teezer), but I always thought they were really expensive so why bother buying one when I could just buy another one of the normal brushes for cheaper. But just before Christmas Boots had a buy 1 get 1 half price offer on Tangle Teezers so I decided to make use of it.

I haven’t used my little compact Tangle Teezer much as I’ve not really been away anywhere, but on the times that I have used it it does as good a job as the full sized Tangle Teezer and I’m very glad I bought it.

Tangle Teezer Ultimate Finishing Brush

Finally, the last Tangle Teezer in my collection is the Ultimate Finishing Brush. I found this when I was shopping the buy 1 get 1 half price offer in Boots, and it is pretty new so there weren’t many reviews, but I decided to give it a go! I’m not a big fan of the colour, but pink was the only colour that Boots had (Amazon do a black version), but I mean it’s only a hairbrush right?! At first I was concerned about the short looking handle, but this Tangle Teezer is amazing! It has longer bristles and is so comfortable to hold and brushes through my hair so well! I still use the Salon Elite for detangling, but I use this brush to brush my hair through afterwards rather than my normal hairbrush.

Do you use a Tangle Teezer? What do you think of them?

Zoella Pamper Hamper

I thought I’d do a post that was a bit different today to make up for finishing blogmas!

The first time I heard of Zoella was a couple of years ago when she was on the Great British Bake Off Comic/Sport Relief special. I wouldn’t say I’ve heard of her much but in the last 6 months I’ve heard of her more often and thought I’d try something of hers.

I know her products and target audience in general is teenagers, so I was a bit unsure whether I should really be trying her products, but when I heard her Christmas range was based on a gingerbread scent I thought I’d give it a go.

The Zoella Pamper Hamper was perhaps one of the most wished-for items in her Christmas range, but I’m afraid I would never have paid full price (£50) for this! It was only a couple of days ago when I was in Superdrug I saw it was £16.99 in their sale, and thought I wouldn’t mind spending that money on it, but no way would I spend £50! Sadly it is sold out online but several stores still seem to have a reasonable amount of stock of this.

With the Zoella Pamper Hamper you get this lovely wicker hamper. Mine is a little damaged in places where the white coating has come off so I wouldn’t say it is that well made but it does feel pretty robust and I know what I’ll be using it for (once I’ve tidied my room up).

photo-01-01-2017-09-34-16

Inside the pamper hamper you get several things.

  • 90ml Hungry Hands Hand Cream
  • 100ml Shower Glaze (shower gel)
  • 100ml Ginger Cream (body lotion)
  • Bake My Day Cosmetic Purse
  • Shower/Bath Puff
  • Bath Fizzer
  • Gingerbread Bath Salts

So you do get a fair amount in the hamper, I think I was most disappointed that the sizes weren’t bigger. I mean 100ml of shower gel probably won’t last very long! I have very sensitive skin and am quite allergic to almost everything, so I’m going to have to see how I get on with this stuff but I’ll tell you a bit more about some of the things you get in the hamper now.

photo-02-01-2017-09-30-21

This little Bake My Day cosmetic purse is quite cute. It isn’t very big so I don’t think you’d get much in there! But it is exclusive to the Pamper Hamper so you can’t get it elsewhere.

photo-02-01-2017-09-30-31

Hungry Hands Hand Cream has a mild ginger, but more vanilla scent to it. To be honest this is the product that I most wanted to try out and I’ve used a tiny bit this morning. I thought 90ml wouldn’t be much but you hardly need anything. It makes your hands feel so soft and is not greasy at all! If you just want to try this you can get it for £1.99 in Superdrug at the moment (as opposed to the £6 RRP before Christmas).

photo-02-01-2017-09-30-38

Ginger Cream is a little body lotion. I haven’t used it yet but it smells just like the hand cream and I personally think it smells more like vanilla than ginger, but it smells lovely!

photo-02-01-2017-09-30-45

The Shower Glaze again smells very similar to the hand cream and the body lotion and I can’t wait to use it.

Bath Fizzer and Gingerbread Bath Salts – I haven’t opened either of these yet. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to use the Bath Fizzer as the website says it contains almond oil, and being allergic to nuts means I can’t use it, but I’m sure my mum can use it! The Bath Fizzer does break in half though so you can get two baths out of it. As for the Gingerbread Bath Salts, I look forward to trying these, there are loads of them in the packet and I don’t quite know how much you should use per bath but we’ll soon find out!

photo-02-01-2017-09-31-09

Last but not least is this little shower puff it is quite small and not as big as the one I have from the Body Shop but it looks really cute as it has a bit of pink running through it!

photo-02-01-2017-09-31-27

So all in all, you do get a reasonable amount of things for £16.99, but like I said I don’t think I’d pay £50 for it! If you want it I’d head out to your local Superdrug quickly as this is all only limited edition stuff for Christmas and it will soon disappear. I do quite like the scent. Yes it is quite sweet, and I think it smells more like vanilla gingerbread but I don’t think it is sickly sweet and I look forward to trying the rest of the products out.
